The 2012 MTV Movie Awards Breakthrough Performance winner took audiences by storm when she broke through a skylight shrieking like a banshee with "YOLO" tattooed on her forehead — or so presenter Emma Stone wanted us to believe. In reality, Shailene Woodley was less aggressive as she took the stage to accept her award.
The "Descendants" actress had stiff competition, as she was up against "The Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy, who blew audiences away in "Bridesmaids," Oscar nominee Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") and "Super 8" actress Elle Fanning. But they were no match as fans rallied behind Woodley, winning her the coveted Golden Popcorn award.
Woodley walked up to the microphone saying, "This is nuts! I'm so nervous right now. Woah, I'm sweating a ton."
With huge stars like Channing Tatum and Charlize Theron in the audience, we'd be sweating, too! But the actress was able to keep her cool as she thanked those behind the Academy Award-winning film.
"Thank you Searchlight, Fox Searchlight," she said. "I met and had so many profound relationships on this movie. George [Clooney] and [director] Alexander [Payne] taught me how to be a better human being."
As a supporter of the environment, the starlet also wanted to thank the state where she filmed her breakout performance.
"Someone that I haven't really mentioned throughout this entire process is Hawaii. Hawaii completely changed my life. It completely opened my eyes to the profound ecosystem around us. So this is for Hawaii, and for all those artists out there, and to cinema and re-wilding. Thanks, guys! This is crazy!"
