SimCity BuildIt, Electronic Arts' new mobile version of the city building simulation game, has been downloaded 15 million times since it was first released three weeks ago, the company has announced. EA announced the free-to-play game back in september, which has since released on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, complete with a revamped interface for touch-screens. It became instantly popular, landing in the iOS top 5 free games downloads chart in more than 100 countries. EA said that since its release, players from around the world logged in more than 8,000 years of gameplay. "We’re thrilled you’re enjoying SimCity BuildIt, and we’re excited to bring new content and fresh updates to players as we grow and SimCity BuildIt over time," EA said. It is at least a much bigger success than Dungeon Keeper, another high-profile, free-to-play, mobile game EA released around the same time last year, which was criticized for its aggressive monetization practices.
