The Sims 4 developer Maxis announced today that a new patch available now introduces pools to the simulation game. "POOLS!!! OMG!!!," wrote executive producer Shannon Copur on the game's website. Copur said pools in The Sims 4 will benefit from the game's Build mode. This functionality already let you build houses, but now it's being extended to pools. "All that great technology has now been applied to pools, making pool-building faster and easier than ever before," Copur wrote. In The Sims 4, you can build pools diagonally, and even create "exotic" pools that have windows on the walls to create an "infinity-pool aquatic escape." Players can also adjust the depth of their pools and create pools on ground level, the second floor, or even the roof. Alongside the introduction of pools today for The Sims 4, Maxis has also released new swimwear for your Sims. The developer also warns that when Sims get angry in the water, they might splash around, getting other nearby Sims wet. Finally, Maxis has launched a new death type through today's update--Death by Drowning. If your Sim dies in a pool, its ghost will be afraid of water even in the afterlife, Maxis says. Copur teased that today's update for The Sims 4 introduces even more new features, though she wouldn't say what these are. You can see the full patch notes here. To receive the update, you'll need to log in to Origin and launch the game. Got a news tip or want to contact us directly? Email news@gamespot.com
