It's nearly a year since Hollywood started delaying the release of movies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with theaters still closed across the world, it looks like a host of films scheduled for a spring 2021 release are about to move again. The latest title to get pushed to later in the year is the Sopranos prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark. As reported by Variety, The Many Saints of Newark will now hit theaters on September 24, 2021. It was originally set for a September 2020 release before being pushed to March this year. While it's not surprising that a film set to hit theaters as soon as March has been delayed again, Warner had already changed its entire movie release pattern for 2021. In November, the studio announced that all of this year's releases will be released onto HBO Max on the same day that they hit theaters. The fact that The Many Saints of Newark has been pushed to September rather than simply debut on HBO Max in March suggests that the studio still considers a US theatrical release important for its bigger movies.
