Star Wars The Mandalorian: 10 Things We Want From Season 2 Of The Disney+ Show

It's been almost a year since the first season of The Mandalorian ended last December. Now the show is set to return with a new season of episodes to give us the Star Wars content we are desperately in need of after a year of delayed blockbuster movies, social distancing, and lots of being stuck at home.

When Season 3 premieres October 30 on the Disney+ streaming service, fans will be dropped right back into the story of the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and his journey to return The Child (better known as Baby Yoda) to his home. Of course, the problem is he has no idea where that is or how to get to it. Along the way, there will no doubt be firefights, close calls, lots of destruction, and some familiar faces--especially those that were introduced in Season 1 of the series.

While we don't know everything that will happen in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, there are some things that simply need to happen for the good of us all. Looking back on Season 1, GameSpot has come up with 10 things we desperately want to see in the new season of the show. Take a look at our Season 2 wishlist below.

The Mandalorian Season 2 premieres October 30 on Disney+, with new episodes releasing weekly on Friday.

1. More Baby Yoda

Come on, this is obvious. The Child, who we all refer to as Baby Yoda, is clearly the breakout star of the series. Whether he's swallowing a frog, drinking soup, playing with kids, or using the Force, every moment we see with this character is downright adorable. There's no way Season 2 is going to cut back on the little tike's appearances. Still, why not double The Child's amount of screen time in the new episodes?

2. More connections that aren't to the movies

The Darksaber made its live-action debut in the Season 1 finale of the Mandalorian. However, it originates in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The movies, Solo aside, don't tend to acknowledge much from cartoons like Clone Wars, Rebels, and Resistance. This is a huge mistake, and hopefully one Mandalorian continues to fix.

3. Speaking of the Darksaber

Now let's talk about the Darksaber. In the Season 1 finale, it's being wielded by Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), who is clearly going to be a force to be reckoned with in Season 2. At some point, though, Mando needs to get his hands on that thing. What more could we ask for than Mando flying with his jetpack, Baby Yoda in one hand and the Darksaber in the other?

4. Introduce another Ugnaught

Yes, Kuill, the Ugnaught voiced by Nick Nolte in Season 1, is dead. It was one of the saddest parts of the first season, because the pic-like creature ended up becoming one of the most entertaining characters on the show. While it's incredibly unlikely he can somehow be resurrected, that doesn't mean Mando shouldn't come into contact with another Ugnaught--perhaps even one who knew Kuiil in some fashion. Star Wars is at its best when it's bringing interestingly-designed alien forms to life and Kuiil was among the best.

5. Sasha Banks in a big role

Yes, WWE superstar Sasha Banks appears in the new season of The Mandalorian. What we don't know is how "The Boss" will fit into the new season. Is it just a cameo? Does she appear in more than one episode? Does she play a character we've heard of before? There's no way to know before the new season arrives, but hopefully she sticks around and is able to play an important role in the new episodes. In fact, let's get real speculative and say it would be great to see her working with Ahsoka Tano somehow--potentially as a Jedi padawan.

6. Bring back IG-11 somehow

Yes, the droid voice by Taika Waititi sacrificed itself at the end of Season 1 to save Baby Yoda's life. But it's still a droid, meaning there are more of them out there. Certainly another one could have been reprogrammed to resemble the IG-11 we met last year. If not, just give Waititi some other role.

7. Moff Gideon vs. Mando, one-on-one

This is less of a wish and more of a prediction because it has to happen. Moff Gideon has the Darksaber and wants The Child. There's no way Mando's going to let that happen. Something tells us this fight is going to be vicious.

8. A Life Day celebration

It was mentioned in Season 1 and now there's a Lego Star Wars Holiday Special arriving soon. Show us a proper Life Day celebration, rather than the silly version filled with Bea Arthur from Golden Girls singing one seen in the original Star Wars Holiday Special. For the uninitiated, Life Day is essentially space Christmas--a time for love, family, and holiday joy. Show us Mando having Life Day dinner with his weird makeshift family of Baby Yoda, Cara Dune, and Greef Carga.

9. A nod to Batuu

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has been open at Disneyland and Walt Disney World for over a year now. Thanks to books and comics, Star Wars fans have gotten to know a bit more about Batuu, the planet the theme park extension is set on. Why not send Mando there on one of his missions? In fact, this summer during the pandemic would have actually been a perfect time to do some filming in the very immersive land, while Disneyland was closed. That might be asking for too much, but visiting Galaxy's Edge would be perfect. Till the spire!

10. Keep Mando a mystery

We didn't learn a ton about Mando's history in Season 1 and we only saw his face in a single scene. The show should continue that route. Part of what makes Mando so engaging is we don't know a lot about him, other than his dedication to the Mandalorian way of life. Seeing him be kind to The Child in quiet moments, or even losing the helmet for a quick scene in the new season, would be wonderful. It's a tricky line to walk, though, because going overboard would be too easy.
