Just days after Electronic Arts announced launch plans for Star Wars: Battlefront, mobile game developer DeNA today released its own Star Wars game, a tower defense title called Galactic Defense. The free-to-play game is available today for iOS, Android, and Amazon devices. DeNA says Galactic Defense is the first free-to-play tower defense mobile game to feature both prequel and classic Star Wars content. In the game, you'll choose a side--Empire or Rebellion--and visit popular Star Wars locations such as Hoth and Tatooine. Familiar characters are also featured in the game, including Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as General Grievous and Dark Side Anakin, among many others. Players can use up to three champions at a time during battle, and the game features network connectivity so you can sync up with your friends. Galactic Defense features a single-player campaign mode and online multiplayer, and DeNA says it will update the game regularly with new content to keep things fresh. Check out a trailer for Galactic Defense above and some screenshots in the gallery below. Galactic Defense is not the only Star Wars mobile game out there today, as Disney recently released a Clash of Clans-style strategy game called Star Wars: Commander. Other games, such as Tiny Death Star and Star Wars: Assault, were recently removed from app stores. If you're not into mobile games, EA is currently working on multiple Star Wars games for console. One is the first-person shooter Star Wars: Battlefront, which will launch in holiday 2015. The other, according to reports, is an open-world role-playing game being produced by former Uncharted veteran Amy Hennig. Got a news tip or want to contact us directly? Email news@gamespot.com
