Studio Ghibli's latest film, The Boy and the Heron, released on Blu-ray last week. Amazon quickly sold out of the limited-edition steelbook 4K Blu-ray at launch, but it's back in stock now amidst Prime Day 2024 deals. You can snag The Boy and the Heron on 4K UHD Blu-ray with a special steelbook case for $35 (was $45) at Amazon and Walmart. The 4K edition also comes with a standard 1080p Blu-ray disc. The steelbook matches the aesthetics of previous Studio Ghibli limited-edition releases, but it's the first 4K Blu-ray from the beloved studio. It's actually the second Hayao Miyazaki film to receive a 4K release, as The Castle of Cagliostro, Miyazaki's directorial debut, released on 4K a few years back. It's a great animated comedy, but it initially released in 1979, years before the formation of Studio Ghibli. If you don't care about steelbook cases, Amazon also has the 4K standard edition for $33 (it's $39 at Walmart). Meanwhile, the standard Blu-ray and DVD combo pack is available for $27 at Amazon and Walmart.
All three versions include heaps of bonus features, such as feature-length storyboards, interviews with team members, and more. As for the full list of special features, here's what you get: Continue Reading at GameSpot
