Multiplatform episodic zombie adventure game heading to certification this week; Fables expected to launch in third quarter. 
Telltale Games' adaptation of AMC's The Walking Dead is nearing gold status, and the studio's spin on the Fables comic book series will launch in the third quarter, CEO Dan Connors has revealed.
Speaking to Digital Trends, Connors said The Walking Dead is expected to be submitted for certification on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network this week. According to the site, this process is estimated to take about six weeks, with a release following thereafter.
The Walking Dead is also expected to arrive for the PC and Mac.
Connors told the site that Telltale hopes to release The Walking Dead in a timely fashion to capitalize on the hype surrounding the AMC television show of the same name, which wraps its latest season on March 18.
Telltale's Walking Dead is a single-player episodic game that does not follow the television show's hero, Rick Grimes, but rather an all-new character, Lee Everett. Everett is convicted of a crime but is given a chance to redeem himself, albeit in a world infested with undead.
In addition to news concerning Telltale's Walking Dead adaptation, Connors shed some light on the mysterious Fables project at the studio. He said the game is still on and is scheduled to launch during the third quarter of the year (July-September). Platforms were not mentioned.
Little is known about that project, but Digital Trends reports that Telltale will share more information regarding it at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo, which runs June 5-7. A follow-up showing is reportedly planned for July's 2012 San Diego Comic-Con.
Fables was created by comic book artist Bill Willingham and draws its characters from well-known fairy tales and fables, reinterpreting them with a modern twist.
