Adele and Daft Punk actually sound perfect together.
We already know Adele mashes up well with a Costco supply of Kleenex and Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby (meaning we willingly drown ourselves in our sorrows to her entire 21 album). But some genius on the internet (22-year-old San Diego-based mashup artist DJ Carlos Serrano) thought to combine the Grammy queen with a pretty unlikely pair -- electro DJ duo Daft Punk. And you should write the man a thank-you letter.
Serrano took Daft Punk's 2001 Discovery tune "Something About Us" and laid Adele's vocals on her 21 hit "Set Fire To The Rain" over the instrumentals. The final product is "Something About The Fire" -- a funky downtempo track that we think Chromeo should have a feature on. This song proves to us once again that the mashup should seriously get its own category at the Grammys. It also makes us think Adele should attempt a disco album. Weirder things have happened, people.
