Smiling excited, the young princess from a underwater kingdom leans her small body, half human, half fish, over a base of a sea rock from her special place, where she keeps her vast treasure, a collection of human objects, antiques, and artifacts, representing special memories from her adventures and new discoveries from ship wreckages, caves, and even from above surface. A collection composed of gadgets, gizmos, whosits, whatsits, and thingamabobs as she calls them, but that are actually chests, silverware on a candelabrum, pottery, bottles, and much more, carefully stored in Ariel’s Secret Grotto. Expanding their collection that celebrates Disney’s 100th anniversary, Iron Studios proudly present the statue “The Little Mermaid Deluxe – Disney Classics 100 Years – Art Scale 1/10“, with the pretty Little Mermaid in a Deluxe version, on a diorama base followed by her friends Flounder and Sebastian over her cave with the treasures, including even a statue of Prince Eric.
Iron Studios will also release the statue in the Regular version, “The Little Mermaid – Disney Classics 100 Years – Art Scale 1/10” with Ariel over a base with a sea rock and some of the items from her treasure. And the limited statue “The Little Mermaid 100th – Disney Classics 100 Years – Art Scale 1/10“, with the mermaid princess on a silver base entirely decorated, with a front plaque celebratory of Disney’s 100th anniversary, another special item so that fans and collectors can celebrate and be a part of this centenary, made in a limited edition with only 100 units.
Released in 1989, The Little Mermaid is the 28th feature film from Disney Animation, vaguely based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, that introduces Princess Ariel as the protagonist, a young, adventurous, and stubborn mermaid from the kingdom of Atlantica. Her curiosity and love for adventure sometimes puts her in trouble, however, Ariel overcomes whatever challenge she faces. Her best friends are a fish called Flounder, and a crab called Sebastian. With bright red hairs, and an emerald-green tail, Ariel is unhappy with her underwater life, but is fascinated by the human world. Ignoring the advice of her father, King Triton, she goes to the surface of the ocean where she falls in love with Prince Eric the moment that she sees him. When saves him from a shipwreck, he gets charmed by her voice and promises to find the girl that he heard singing and that saved his life even though he didn’t meet Ariel yet. Seeking for a way of joining Eric in his world, Ariel searches for Ursula, the Sea Witch, that wishes to use the princess to obtain Triton’s magic trident. In exchange for her voice, Ariel is transformed by Ursula into a human for three days. The mermaid must receive the true love kiss from Eric to remain a human, or she’ll become a mermaid once more, and then she’ll belong to the witch. The success of the movie gave birth to a multimedia franchise, with an animated series for television in 1992, a sequel with The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea released in 2000 for home video, a prequel in The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning from 2008, and an adaptation for musical theater on Broadway. Ariel was incorporated in the licensed Disney Princess line, with an infinite number of products and collectibles. A live-action version inspired by the classic animation will release this year, and the Little Mermaid is surfing the big waves of Pop culture once again!
Credited as the movie that started Disney’s historic rebirth, in 2022 the movie was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”. Already available for Pre-Order, the statue was revealed for the first time on the show Inside Iron Studios Day of May on Iron Studios’ official YouTube channel, check out the other previously presented statues celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary: Mickey-Fantasia, Scar-The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
