Now presenting: The cutest VMA couples of ALL TIME!

Half the fun of watching the MTV VMAs is scoping out who's who on the red carpet, but you know what's even MORE fun? "Awwwww"-ing our faces off over the cutest VMA couples! And now that the 2013 MTV VMAs are just around the corner (Sunday, Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. ET), we are seriously doing the I-can't-wait-pee-pee dance over who we'll see canoodling this year! Will Katy Perry "Roar" sweet nothings into John Mayer's ear? Or will she opt to sing into Rihanna's neck like last year? Will Miley Cyrus show up sans date or will she -- gasp -- show up with her supposed fiance, Liam Hemsworth? Will Beyoncé and Jay-Z get carried into Barclays Center via Cleopatra-era litters?

But instead of fantasizing about what WILL be, you know what we could do? We could reminisce about our favorite VMA couples throughout the years! That's right, it's time to look back at all of our favorite VMA lovebirds, from Wiz and Amber to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears (R.I.P.) to Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (R.I.P. AGAIN, UGH) to Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas. Oh, and don't think we forgot about those tried-and-true VMA couples: Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, Jennifer Lopez and Puff Daddy (before he was Diddy), Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley... OK, who has a tissue box? Now we're getting the VMA nostalgia #sadz.

1.) BEYONCE PERFORMING WITH JAY-Z AT THE 2003 VMAS: Not only did Beyoncé set the VMA stage on fire in 2003 with a Bollywood-inspired performance of "Baby Boy" and "Crazy In Love," but the lovebird invited her now-husband Jay-Z to the stage to help make the show that much more electrifying.

2.) JUSTIN BIEBER KISSING SELENA GOMEZ AT THE 2011 VMAS: Even though their maybe-maybe-not relationship has taken a sharp turn for the confusing, we still get butterflies from watching Jelena look all lovey-dovey at the 2011 VMAs. Excuse me, I need to go sit in a dark room with "Memories" playing on repeat.

3.) JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE AND BRITNEY SPEARS LOOKING ALL HAPPY AT THE 2000 VMAS: Speaking of Justins who are no longer with their pop star ladies, this photo of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake is just so POWERFUL that we can't. We can't! We know that both parties have moved on (it's been 13 years people! 13 YEARS!!), but guh, cry me a river -- we wanna, as Cher once said, "turn back time."

4.) TAYLOR SWIFT AND JOE JONAS AT THE 2008 VMAS: Oooooh, please let's not forget about Taylor Swift's one-time relationship with a Jonas Brother, OK? Remember, this is pre-"Better Than Revenge." Pre-SO MANY TAYLOR SWIFT BREAKUP SONGS. I mean, if we didn't have this photo, we wouldn't have all those breakup anthems!

5.) NICK LACHEY AND JESSICA SIMPSON AT THE 2005 VMAS: Cue up a "Newlyweds" marathon, because this photo is a timepiece if ever we saw one. Sure, the 98 Degrees member and Jess may have posed for this photo mere months before filing for divorce (they split in December 2005), but they still LOOK cute, right?

6.) KURT COBAIN AND COURTNEY LOVE AT THE 1994 VMAS: There's so much to say about this photo, and SO LITTLE SPACE. Not only is it one of the most iconic VMA photos of all time, but now all we want to do is blast Nirvana and Hole and remember a time when Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain were still parents to little (and now-teenage, guh) Frances Bean. Love you always, Kurt.

7.) MICHAEL JACKSON AND LISA MARIE PRESLEY AT THE 1994 VMAS: Michael Jackson kissing Lisa Marie Presley on the VMA stage may have been a wee bit controversial at the time, but now we'd give just about anything for the King Of Pop to still be here (especially to present the Video Vanguard Award to Justin Timberlake). For now, we'll just, as they say on "The Sopranos," remember the good times.

8.) KATY PERRY KISSING NIALL HORAN AT THE 2012 VMAS: We KNOW you remember this one. Who didn't squeal a million squeals when Katy Perry mouth-kissed One Direction's Niall Horan while 1D went up to collect their "Best Pop Video" award for "What Makes You Beautiful"??

9.) KID ROCK AND PAMELA ANDERSON AT THE 2001 VMAS: Because no one should ever forget that time the "Bawitdaba" singer dated everybody's favorite IRL pin-up girl: Pamela Anderson.

10.) BRITNEY SPEARS KISSING MADONNA AT THE 2003 VMAS: OK, they might not technically be a couple (and let's not forget that Christina Aguilera also made out with Madonna in the same performance), but no one will ever, ever, ever forget Britney and Madonna mouth-kissing at the 2003 VMAs. EVER.
