Above is an unboxing of the amazing, yet longwindedly named Hasbro Star Wars The Black Series The Mandalorian Electronic Helmet. I had previously reviewed the Boba Fett helmet by Hasbro which I love but I think I love old Din Djarin’s helmet more.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Boba’s style but Mando’s clean, chrome inspired Beskar helmet is just more aesthetically pleasing. Both helmets make great display pieces but after wearing the new helmet for about an hour straight while on a walk, wearing CDC recommended face-coverings under it, I found it not to be as cumbersome or heavy. The day was pretty brisk for Los Angeles but even still I hardly broke a sweat.
Another difference that could be indicative of the different shape of this helmet is that I felt like I had better visibility. That could come simply from the fact that I wore it in the daytime after previously primarily wearing the Boba helmet at night while walking my dog. The headband in Mando’s helmet feels more comfortable as well.
This review should not have been a comparison post but as a collector I can only imagine people buying one might be curious about the other and wondering which is best to own, but if you’re like me you’ll probably end up with both. One thing I can’t compare is the electronic feature, just having cracked it open I haven’t explored it yet. I will say that I’m not that interested in the feature but do find the rangefinder on Boba’s helmet quite fun.
If you’re on the fence I’d say go for it, these things can triple in price on the secondary market and with Halloween around the corner you have an instant costume and face covering in order to close out the pandemic in style. This is the way!
