Season 2 of the Mandalorian isn't as standalone as the first season was. While many casual fans may not notice, the Disney+ Star Wars series has plenty of connections to two animated series: The Clone Wars and Rebels. Mando can certainly be enjoyed as a standalone series, but placed into a greater context within the Star Wars expanded universe, it becomes a whole lot more exciting.

We saw the biggest connection in the Season 1 finale when Moff Gideon stepped out of a Tie Fighter holding the Darksaber--the weapon the very first Mandalorian Jedi used, which appeared on Clone Wars.
