Paying close attention to any threats on her right flank, the female figure with emerald skin and red hair known as “Goddess”, the adored deity of the Snake Men, a fictional species of humanoid snakes that lived on Eternia before the humans, steadily carries her staff, protecting the other side with a small but effective shield. With her body and head protected by red and golden armor in the form of a serpent, the mystic Eternian, originally in charge of keeping the natural order and protecting Castle Grayskull, walks on a base of pointy rocks from a battlefield. Inspired by the original version of the figure and her origins in the comic books, Iron Studios present the variant version of the statue “Teela Warrior Goddess – MOTU – Art Scale 1/10”, with the mysterious sorceress responsible for He-Man’s origin.
On Mattel’s original concept arts from the 80s, both the Goddess and Teela are portrayed by the same figure, suggesting a connection between the two of them. Originally, she is the one who gives He-Man the armor and weapons he needs to fight Skeletor and, later, she is the one who keeps the Cavern of Power where Adam and Cringer transform into He-Man and Battle Cat. In “The Tale of Teela”, the mini comics written by Gary Cohn, with illustrations by Mark Texeira, it’s stablished that the Goddess’ name is also Teela, and that the Captain of the Guard from Eternia received this name because she was created with a portion of the Goddess’ power. The Goddess played an important role in the first comic books and, with the development of the animated series in 1983, the character was reinvented as the Sorceress from Castle Grayskull, a woman with a Bird of Prey theme that lives inside the castle. To avoid confusion with the former Sorcerer, the snake-themed incarnation is known mainly as “the Goddess”. Recently in DC Comics, the Goddess is portrayed as being the evolved version of Teela, the Sorceress’ substitute, receiving her powers by birthright. In this disguise, Teela has green skin and a more elaborate form of her mask and snake staff.
