With Apple Arcade delivering a steady stream of high-quality mobile games, there's really never been a better time to game on iOS devices. You should take a break from filling up your iPhone's storage space with Apple Arcade games to download Bastion, as Supergiant Games' 2011 debut is currently free for a limited time.
The original iOS version published by Warner Bros. was delisted last week. An updated version published by Supergiant just popped up on the App Store, and the studio responsible for the whimsical action-RPG is graciously giving it away free of charge until the end of the year.
We tried searching for Bastion in the App Store, but it seems the new listing isn't appearing in to search results just yet. After downloading, you need to unlock the full game. Bastion boots directly to the beginning of the game rather than a menu screen. After playing for about ten seconds, the settings wheel will appear in the upper right-hand corner. Click on the wrench/hammer icon, and you'll see a button that reads "Unlock $0.00." Bastion is now in your iOS game library forever!
In Bastion, you play as the Kid, a young adventurer on a fantastical journey narrated by an old man named Rucks. Throughout the story, you fight your way through enemy-infested levels comprised of floating environments that continuously appear as you walk. The end goal is to collect the cores that made the city of Caelondia tick before the world-altering event known as the Calamity. Earning an impressive 8.5/10 in GameSpot's Bastion review, the game became a runaway hit.
Supergiant Games went on to create three more compelling indies: Transistor, Pyre, and Hades, which is currently in early access.
