Trash Bag Bunch XL: Stink Buzzard vinyl toy Live on KickStarter

Vinyl art toys licensed from the original Trash Bag Bunch mini figures of the early 90s

Trash Bag Bunch XL returns with Stink Buzzard, the fourth figure in the series!

This is a new, large-scale figure based on the character from the classic toy line. Trash Bag Bunch XL are four times the size of the original mini figures with loads of added detail. Stink Buzzard is designed, sculpted, and prototyped by hand, then will be produced in a factory using high-quality vinyl and paints. Here’s Stink Buzzard XL with the original mini figure! Stink Buzzard stands at 8.5 inches tall.

Trash Bag Bunch is a series of mini figures released by Galoob in 1991. It had a great play gimmick where the toys were packed in little trash bags and you didn’t know what figure you had until dropping the bag into water where it would dissolve, frothing and foaming to reveal your new toy! It was one of the earliest incarnations of blind bag toys as we know them today. Trash Bag Bunch stands out as a line with some of the most unique creature designs and 3-4 painted colors on each figure–rather unique for mini figures of the time. Check out the range of character designs from the original packaging:

If you need any further persuasion, listen to Ralphie in this old commercial, and if you want to learn more about the history of the toys, take a look at Mel Birnkrant’s website where he details the conception of the line.

Along with the classic pink version from the first series of Trash Bag Bunch, Stink Buzzard XL is available in the unreleased series 2 purple and white colorway known as “Creep Claw.”

New Colorways

Additionally, there are two brand new colorways created just for Stink Buzzard XL!

Hell Banshee (black) and Albino Buzzard (white)

Bruiser mini figure

And finally, a never-before-released mini figure from the original toy line is being made available ONLY through Kickstarter. The Bruiser prototype has been with Jim Fong, one of the original sculptors of the Trash Bag Bunch mini figures, for over 30 years. He has graciously allowed its replication by making a mold directly from his one-of-a-kind hardcopy prototype. Bruiser can be purchased alone as a pledge tier, or added on to other pledges. In the vein of the original series, Bruiser is available in two color schemes: green and purple. There are also pledge tiers in which Bruiser is included with Stink Buzzard at a discount, or even free! Take a look here at the interview with Jim Fong about his work for Galoob and with Trash Bag Bunch.
