PLEASANTON, CALIF. – Jackson Bostwick, best-known for his portrayal as the original Captain Marvel in the first season and the beginning of the second season of the Shazam! television series in 1974–75, will make a special guest appearance at Powerhouse Comic Con at the Alameda County Fairgrounds on July 21st. Bostwick’s other notable credits include The Prey (1984), Psychopath (formerly, Eye for an Eye, 1973), and Tron (1982).
Jackson Bostwick will be joined by another rare guest in the Bay Area, George Lowe, a voice actor and comedian whose voice roles include Space Ghost on the animated series Space Ghost Coast to Coast and its spin-off, Cartoon Planet, as well as Jason Ybarra (Power Rangers), Ilia Volok (Power Rangers. Firefly), Jon Provost (Lassie), and professional artists with numerous Marvel and DC Comics credits under their belts: Danny Bulanadi, Chris Marrinan, and Walden Wong.
This year’s show is the third Powerhouse Comic Con in Pleasanton. “We want to give the local community an affordable family-friendly event where they can not just shop but also meet celebrities and involved in various activities — and without breaking the bank”, say the event organizers, Dave and Marina Haworth.
One of the program highlights this year is the Psychotronix Film Festival showing retro Sci-Fi, vintage cartoons, and weird short subjects on 16mm film. “We try to do something different every year. Of course, we will have a vendor hall with an artist alley, celebrity panels, video games, tabletop games, racing simulator, and fan-favorite cosplay contest, but we also try to bring something new to every show. Last year we had an escape room, and everyone had a blast with it. This year we are excited to be showing 16mm classics”.
Powerhouse Comic Con takes place Sunday, July 21st, 10 am to 5 pm at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA. Tickets are on sale online at www.powerhousecomiccon.com for a special online rate and at the door.
