Shenanigans occur, Ataru eventually wins the contest and Lum, as the alien princess misinterprets the his words in the heat of battle as a marriage proposal. After the aliens leave, the series properly kicks off as Ataru has to deal with Lum's advances while pursuing his one true love.

Yes, there are wacky hijinks, but there's also some great and emotional storytelling here amidst the slapstick comedy and visual gags. There's also some terrific animation courtesy of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure studio David Productions, as the animators faithfully replicate the retro look of the manga source material.
