Transforming into a wall painting seems like it would have a whole bunch of pros and cons. On the one hand, particularly if you were an Andy Warhol piece like the one punk veterans Alkaline Trio are singing about in their new video for "I Wanna Be A Warhol," you'd probably be worth a lot of money. Maybe you'd get a good price for yourself at an auction? On the other hand, it has to get a little boring up there. Not unless, we suppose, you're super head over heels in love and nothing else matters besides being close to the object of your affection. At least we think that's the central idea of the song here. Metaphors are hard.

"I wanna be a Warhol, hanging on your wall/ Hung up there staring back at you," guitarist-vocalist Matt Skiba sings over the spiky pop-punk charger.

Speaking of works of art, the video for the song, taken from Alkaline's forthcoming My Shame Is True album, features Milla Jovovich contemplating the paintings on her own wall and conducting a steamy/creepy seduction game with the guy that lives inside her walls -- who hasn't been there? Along the way, a couple of Warhol's most iconic subjects make brief cameos, from Marilyn Monroe, (who knew a thing or two about being metaphorically framed for viewing), and a can of tomato soup. The conceit of Warhol's works was that there's art to be found in the mundane, and normality to be found in the exceptional; art is pop, pop is art. Pop-punk videos can be art too, especially when they give you a lot to think about while you're pogo-ing up and down like this one.
