People always say that it's better to start out as "friends first" when embarking on a brand-new relationship (and to clarify, we mean "friends first" not "friend-zoned first" -- that never works out), mainly because it cuts out that pesky "interview-dating" feeling. Who needs that awkwardness when you already know the person, right?? And even if all new relationships don't necessarily begin that way (because you could also argue that you already "have enough friends"), R&B crooner and dance master Jason Derulo is the living embodiment of what a successful "friends-first" relationship looks like in his new "The Other Side" video.

Directed by Colin Tilley, "The Other Side," as you might have seen in our behind-the-scenes look at the video shoot, features Jason acting out the stages of a new relationship with a VERY attractive brunette, who we can only assume is a stand-in for Jason's IRL girlfriend Jordin Sparks. As Jason twerks it out with some near-impossible, body-twisting dance moves (is it any wonder that the guy fractured his neck?), he and his beautiful girlfriend passionately kiss, passionately kiss on a bed, passionately kiss up against a wall, passionately kiss IN THE RAIN, and have a few smack-down fights while they're at it -- but it's all worth it, because, again, there's nothing like dating your best friend.
