Taylor Swift parties hard in her "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" video.
After what has felt like literally FOREVER, Taylor Swift finally premiered her brand-new "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" video on "MTV First: Taylor Swift," and guys, it is pure pop eye candy. I had a feeling we'd be in for something special after watching the 2012 MTV VMA-nominated singer and performer's lyric video, but I was in no way prepared for the pop party that is Taylor's video itself.

The "Never Ever Getting Back Together" video, directed by Declan Whitebloom, opens with a ponytailed Taylor looking forlorn in her apartment (while wearing dramatically hip glasses and a cute set of PJs) after presumably being led on again by that good-for-nothing broke-ass dude. (No scrubs, girl. No scrubs.) A side note: Taylor's apartment, polka-dot outfits, and demeanor look like it came right out of the Zooey Deschanel handbook, but we do think this is a tremendous shift in style since her country-singing poster girl days. Taylor sings exuberantly into the camera as she dances through her apartment with a random backup band of guys in furry costumes (insert unbelievably obvious furry joke here), plus an adorbz crew of well-dressed friends.
The video turns into a sweetly choreographed shot-by-shot Disneyland ride (fun fact: "We Are Never" was shot all in one take and with one camera!) involving Taylor being romanced by her dude, followed by some jubilant scenes of her winking, telling him where he can stick those apologies, and yep, dancing as though she were all alone in her room singing into the mirror (and believe me when we say WE'VE BEEN THERE AND DONE THIS).
We would also like to pose the theory that judging by this video, the ex-boyfriend on blast in the song might actually be John Mayer. That scruffy dude she keeps pushing aside in the video? He definitely does not look as clean-cut as her previous paramours -- and the behavior she describes ("finding your peace of mind in an indie record that's much cooler than mine")? Oh, that just sounds way too music-dude-ish for it NOT to be John. We'll leave it at that. We could be / may very well be wrong, but we're putting it out there.
Anyway, if you want more Taylor (and how could you not?), do yourself a big favor and watch the 2012 MTV VMAs, where she'll be performing live.
