At the recently concluded Comic-Con San Diego, VIZ Media hosted a panel to celebrate all things THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, covering the beloved and internationally bestselling Nintendo video game, as well as the manga and graphic novels inspired by them!
The fun event was moderated by Chris Kohler, the founding editor of Game|Life, the video games section of WIRED – please check out the panel videos here:
Koher is no stranger to manga or anime – he covered Japanese games for the VIZ Media publication Animerica, and is the author of the 2004 book Power-Up: How Japanese Video Games Gave the World an Extra Life, soon to be reprinted by Dover Publications in Spring 2016!
VIZ Media publishes both the 10-volume manga series, as well as the long out-of-print classic graphic novel THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST by renowned manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori! Originally serialized in Nintendo Power magazine in the 1990’s, the long out-of-print A LINK TO THE PAST is available in a stunning, full-color oversized edition! In his adaptation, Ishinomori (creator also of Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider) incorporated new plot twists and characters that made this a favorite among generations of fans. Link’s hard-fought battles on his quest to save PrincessZelda are made even more intense with Ishnomori’s unmistakeable art style and captivating storytelling!
