Watch A$AP Rocky's exclusive 'PUSH Live' performance of 'Purple Swag.'
A$AP Rocky's had us in a purple haze ever since he dropped "Peso," his spaced-out, school's-out jam that left us feeling like we were floating on one long, slow exhale. The blogs went nuts, record labels scrambled to sign him, he played the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards, South By Southwest and Coachella, he's bros with Jeremy Scott, and he'll channel JFK in Lana Del Rey's upcoming video, cementing his place as the internet's favorite (and most fashionable) young rapper. And for his "PUSH Live" performance of the already-classic "Purple Swag," A$AP gets "in the zone" and drops a mellow flow over the syrupy beat. (After that Cloud Nothings performance, we definitely need the chance to catch our breath.)
A$AP directed and choreographed the "Purple Swag" live performance, which was shot in an abandoned pump station (that feels more like an abandoned church) in Austin, Texas. He's backed by the A$AP Mob, who put their hands in the air and chant "swag" like it's their job (because it is), creating an almost-classic Greek chorus effect to A$AP's heroic hip-hop pedestal.
The rapper's planning on painting the whole summer purple, too: He's preparing for his official debut, LongLiveA$AP, for a September release, and he crushed a verse on Usher's "Hot Thing" earlier this month.
