Shot at the historic Angel Orensanz Center, a former gothic revival synagogue in New York's Lower East Side, Florence + The Machine's "MTV Unplugged" performance, presented by State Farm, is set to cement 25-year-old baroque-pop singer Florence Welch's spot as one of the true iconic voices of our time. Joined by her backing band and an audience full of Flo diehards (including Kanye West), Florence's "Unplugged" set includes a little something for everybody.
It wouldn't be a Florence + The Machine show without a performance of her 2008 Lungs megahit "Dog Days Are Over," and her "Unplugged" rendition doesn't disappoint. (Then again, when's the last time a song with that much harp disappointed you?) Florence also brings it on all of her Ceremonials hits, including "Shake It Out" and "Only If For A Night." But admittedly it's her cover game that colored us the most impressed -- not only did she bring out Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme for a beautiful cover of Jerry Leiber and Billy Edd Wheeler's classic "Jackson," but she also completely nailed Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness." Raise your hand with us if you never want this "Unplugged" to end.
