Watch Timeflies Perform ‘Boston Strong Freestyle’ In Honor Of The Boston Marathon Victims (VIDEO)

Timeflies showed their love to Boston by performing "Boston Strong Freestyle" at Boston's House Of Blues.

As graduates of Boston's Tufts University, pop/hip-hop duo Rob Resnick and Cal Shapiro of Timeflies were especially stricken by last week's Boston Marathon bombings. So, what do musicians do when faced with tragedy? Use the music! Just last week, Timeflies (one of our favorite breakthrough artists of 2012 and recent "Artist To Watch" performers) played to a sold-out crowd at Boston's House of Blues and donated all tour merchandise proceeds -- about $13K in total -- to The One Fund, a new organization that helps the people most affected by the bombings. As if that wasn't enough, Cal and Rez also invited a group of first responders onstage during Cal's incredible "Boston Strong Freestyle," which, as you might've guessed, is a brand-new freestyle all about Boston.

As Boston-centric terms (like Boston's Mayor Menino, the Bruins, and the Charles River) flashed on a screen, Cal spit his unprecedented "Boston Strong Freestyle" verse to a super hyped crowd of proud Bostonians as Rez worked the decks in the background. Oh, and speaking of amazing things from Boston, the "Swoon" singers also brought out JoJo, a proud Boston native who performed a few songs to support The One Fund. Nicely done, everyone! As cheesy as it sounds, music really does heal, and it's amazing to see Timeflies doing their part to help repair their college town and one of the greatest cities in the world.
