You can discover secrets throughout the course of your adventures in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. There's one, however, that will have you roaming around various areas just to gather keys and curious-looking items. Here's our guide on where to use the Iris of Grace and Iris of Occultation in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains minor spoilers. Elden Ring: Shadow of the ErdtreeThe Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Iris of Grace and Iris of Occultation items are actually part of a hidden objective that involves Fire Knight Queelign. Oh, and you'll also end up unlocking the door in the Shadow Keep church while you're at it. We've got all the details for you, so buckle up for a long trek. Note 1: How exactly did we complete all the objectives? Well, we can't confirm if there's a specific order, but here's what we did in our playthrough: - We fought Fire Knight Queelign in the Church of the Crusade.
- We lowered the flood waters in Shadow Keep, and we obtained the Iris of Occultation and Iris of Grace.
- Later, we discovered that Fire Knight Queelign shows up in Belurat Tower Settlement, and we beat him again.
- We unlocked the church door in Shadow Keep, which then led to a meeting with Queelign and a fateful decision.
Note 2: While other NPC quests end abruptly upon a certain important action related to Belurat Tower of Shadow (major spoilers), we can confirm that we were able to complete the objectives for Queelign even after we defeated the final boss. Map: Fire Knight Queelign's invasions
Above, you can see the map pertaining to the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Fire Knight Queelign invasions. You'll battle him in the Church of the Crusade, which is due northwest of Highroad Cross, and in Belurat Tower Settlement. The Prayer Room Key
To obtain the Prayer Room Key, which unlocks the Shadow Keep door in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you must head to Belurat Tower of Shadow and go to the town square/fountain, which is just past the Small Private Altar waypoint. Queelign will invade here, so beat him up to obtain the Prayer Room Key and the Ash of War: Flame Skewer skill. Map: The way to Shadow Keep Church District
For those who've yet to venture deeper into Shadow Keep, there's actually a hidden alternate path. Here's what you need to do: - Clear Castle Ensis and go to Moorth Ruins, where you unlock the unarmed combat style.
- Drop down the ledges in the collapsed building to the south. Then, climb up the ladder to reach Bonny Village.
- Follow the road that leads north-northeast. From there, enter the tunnel until you arrive at the Church District Entrance Site of Grace.
Prayer Room: The locked door
The Church District is flooded, so you must jump across the deep waters and use rooftops/pillars to traverse the area. Eventually, you'll be able to drop down the cathedral, which has more Fire Knights that are just waiting to scorch you to death. The Prayer Room is also here, but you won't be able to open it unless you have the Prayer Room Key. For now, let's focus on getting the two "Iris" items first. Shadow Keep map: Iris of Grace and Iris of Occultation
The Shadow Keep map above shows the location of the Iris of Occultation and Iris of Grace. You can also see the location of the Prayer Room, where you'll eventually meet up with Fire Knight Queelign. Important: The Iris of Grace and Iris of Occultation are classified as consumables. However, you do not want to use them directly via your inventory. Doing so will only waste them. Iris of Grace location
To get the Iris of Grace in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you need to reach the Specimen Storehouse facility in Shadow Keep. This section is reachable by way of the main entrance or the alternate path. Look to your left at the Site of Grace on the first floor. There's an elevator there that leads to the western portion of the fortress. Eventually, you'll come across a chamber with a bulbous pustule enemy. The glowing item behind it is the Iris of Grace. Iris of Occultation location
For the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Iris of Occultation, you must clear the flood waters in Shadow Keep. You can learn more about this in our Flooded Church District guide. Once you've done this, you can enter large doorway on the ground floor of the cathedral (it's actually below the Prayer Room, too). Ride the lift to the lower section, cross the bridge, and pick up the Iris of Occultation in front of a statue. Should you give the Iris of Grace or the Iris of Occultation to Fire Knight Queelign?
Now that you have both the Iris of Grace and Iris of Occultation in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, it's time to make use of them. Return to the Prayer Room and unlock it with the key (if you haven't done so already). Inside, you'll find Fire Knight Queelign, who seems to be begging Marika for mercy. Talk to him and you'll be prompted with a decision on which item to give. You can only choose one since Queelign will fade away into dust, Thanos-style. Here are the rewards: - Give the Iris of Grace - Receive the Fire Knight Queelign spirit ash summon.
- Give the Iris of Occultation - Receive Queelign's Greatsword:
- Type: Heavy Thrusting Sword
- Skill: Impaling Thrust
- Scaling: Str D, Dex D, and Fai D
- Requirements: Str 14, Dex 18, and Fai 12
