Citing unnamed multiple sources, Deadline is reporting that the project is set to be directed by five-time Oscar nominee David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook), and a collaboration between Amazon and MGM. While Amazon declined to comment on the news, the concept for Madden has reportedly been in development for some time. Based on a script by Cambron Clark, which appeared on the Black List, Russell had been working on revisions until the project was put on hold due to the writers' strike. Madden, categorized as a Prime Video Sports Original, aims to explore the life of the charismatic Madden, a prominent figure on NFL sidelines. Madden's aspiration was to become a head coach, and he achieved great success in that role.
