Nintendo to release updated version of Legend of Zelda RPG for Wii U this fall; new entry that will "rethink conventions" of Zelda also on the way.
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is getting a high-definition remake. Nintendo announced this morning during a presentation that an updated version of the 2003 GameCube role-playing game is due for release on Wii U by this fall. It will boast remastered graphics and GamePad functionality.
In addition, Nintendo today confirmed the existence of the long-rumored Wii U Zelda game.
This game will "rethink the conventions of Zelda," according to producer Eiji Aonuma, and will be a back-to-basics title. Nintendo said it will be some time before it shares additional concrete information about the game.
The most recent Zelda title was 2011's The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which has sold more than 3.42 million copies.
