Produced by Filmation, The New Adventures of Superman (1966) and The New Adventures of Batman (1977) presented some of the earliest animated tales of these iconic DC super heroes.
The New Adventures of Superman includes episodes 19-34 of the series – boasting segments featuring Superboy and Krypto. These episodes are not included on the recent DVD release of the series, meaning Warner Archive Instant is the only place fans can see The New Adventures of Superman as it was originally broadcast.
The New Adventures of Batman offered the key actors from the 1966 Batman live-action series – Adam West and Burt Ward – a chance to reprise their characters’ voices for the animated series. These episodes of The New Adventures of Batman also include the first-ever animated appearances by Bat-Mite, voiced by series executive producer Lou Scheimer.
This coming June, Filmation’s 1967 animated series Aquaman will make its Warner Archive Instant debut. Avid fans thirsting for their oft-neglected aquatic hero will have the opportunity to stream 18 of the series’ 36 episodes. An exact date in June will be announced soon.
Warner Archive Instant’s current roster of films and TV movies include (to name a few) The Omega Man, Hero At Large, Salem’s Lot, Son of Kong, Trog, War of the Planets, Atlantis: The Lost Continent, House of Dark Shadows, From Hell It Came, Frankenstein 1970, The Cyclops, Earth II, The Curse of the Cat People, The Last Dinosaur, Mighty Joe Young, The Mysterious Island and Probe.
