The only thing better than The Wanted singing live and acoustic is The Wanted singing a live and acoustic rendition of the Goo Goo Dolls' song "Iris"!!! Not to get all nostalgic on y'all or anything, but "Iris" was one of the first songs I slow-danced to with my middle school boyfriend, and he may or may not have tried to kiss me on the lips during the chorus. Bottom line? My new favorite boy band just covered my old favorite boy-band band. FULL CIRCLE.
Watch The Wanted's acoustic rendition of the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" after the jump.
In between promoting their new jams "Chasing The Sun" and "Heart Vacancy," MTV's POSTED artist of the month stopped by San Diego’s Slacker Radio to perform an acoustic version of their hit "Glad You Came" IN ADDITION TO a lush version of the Goo Goo Dolls' classically epic "Iris." In case you didn't catch them on tour, we'll remind you that the fivesome had been performing the "City Of Angels" soundtrack smash "Iris" live during their U.S. club tour earlier in the year. And now it's on the internet. Forever.
Backed solely by guitars, the boys split up the verses but come together for a full-on harmony explosion on the chorus. Though they infused their own flav into the cover, they didn't stray too far from the classic melody. In short, The Wanted more than did justice to the '90s hit, and we'd even go as far as saying that they should record the song as a single... and then like, 11 other hit songs from the '90s and a release a decade-oriented tribute album! Am I right or am I right?
